Abstract (please use no less than 300 words to describe your proposal)

How can publishers, aggregators, and others with a commercial interest in libraries, and even libraries themselves work with Wikipedian editors in such a way as to strengthen Wikipedia entries and content while also serving libraries?

Libraries: Many libraries have unique holdings that they feel would be valuable to people seeking certain kinds of information? What is the best way that librarians at such institutions suggest links to their holdings? How can such links be proposed without librarians themselves editing entries and thereby run afoul, perhaps, of the principle of NPOV? Some of our customers (librarians) are interested in how to accomplish this.

Publishers and aggregators: Many of them have resources which are worthy destinations/references for students/inquirers. But they also have a clear commercial interest in promoting lniks to their content [and this is true of both for-profit and non-profit publishers]. What are ways in which they can offer up for consideration what they have in a way which is respectful of the values, mission, and procedures of Wikipedia?

At Credo we've been working on finding new approaches to the licensing of our content that will enable us to use our content in the FreeWeb. Some of these approaches may be useful to Wikipedian editors. I'd very much like to get feedback on some of these ideas.

Note: Of course I'm interested in these questions from the self-interest of Credo Reference. But I'm also interested in being able to share what I learn with other publishers. Twice a year I attend the Independent Reference Publishers Group (IRPG) which consists of about 40 small to medium-sized reference publishers. I know that they will be interested in what I learn from whatever session we can arrange at Wikimania.
